Class introductions, digital calipers, Rhino review, creating models for output, closed geometry, creating links, joints, uploading to Shapeways, filling holes, dissecting clasps and making them work for 3D printing, discuss timelines, translating real world measurements into Rhino. Overlapping geometry, flow along curve, flow along surface, Boolean difference for links, Build space, 650 × 350 × 550 mm, take advantage of 3D printing (nesting parts, universal joints, impossible shapes, linkages etc.) 3D printable materials

March 7th

Wax versus plastic, 3D printing waxes through Shapeways versus printing in metal. Casting versus fabricating,

Modeling in Sprues, Measure and translating, Stones for sale, Stachura, Stone setter in town, Potential Johan visit, building prongs in Rhino, alternative settings, building with parts, Command history, symmetry, Brief lesson on stones, Try to make something that takes advantage of 3D printing. Model in sprues for mold making.

March 14^th

intro Form1, Form2 and Asiga printers,

Demo prong settings. Casting refresher, finishing metal parts, the laser welder (prong welding, trapping stones, welding hinges)
